15 brief reasons the ballot box sucks
It doesn’t turn the wrong into the right.
15 reasons government is the enemy:
- Getting drafted into the military forces.
- Arresting sex workers.
- Attacking or invading other countries that can’t plausibly pose a threat to our country.
- Raiding homes for medical marijuana.
- Raiding ANYBODY at ANY PLACE for natural or chemical drugs.
- Eminent domain invasion for corporate profit.
- Because you cut hair without a license, or did ANYTHING without a license.
- Because you crossed a border drawn by politicians, not by property owners.
- Because you started drinking or smoking at too young an age.
- Punishing parents who want their children to experience childhood like Benjamin Franklin or Thomas Edison instead of graded schooling.
- Zoning laws that prohibit residential housing anywhere.
- Restrictions on sending as much of your own money as you want to any person or group you agree with, whether the person is running for office or not, whether the group is politically involved or not.
- Restrictions on paying or receiving a wage you both see as mutually agreeable.
- People coming to deport your neighbor.
- People coming to take your property to “protect” you from immigrants because your property is on a national border.
If life was a movie, you would feel that any cop, soldier, or government agent who came to your door would be deserving of lethal resistance… if the enforcer was working on behalf of an evil despotic ruler. But in the scenarios above, if the laws and policies came from the ballot box, that is sacrosanct. The People voted. The laws that are evil in every conceivable conception of “evil” are“good” because of the ballot box.
I wouldn’t kill for the Divine Right of Kings. I don’t see how I’d kill for the Divine Right of the Ballot Box. I don’t see a difference. Why should I arrest people for peaceful behavior?
Evil is evil. The method of consenting to it doesn’t make it right.
