An Agent Smith World

He comes when there is anger and fear.

Yesterday, the third day after the shootings in El Paso and Dayton, it seemed to me that Agent Smith from The Matrix was controlling both sides of the gun debate. In the movie, Smith could take over anyone’s body to protect the Matrix, a computer simulation that controlled most people’s minds and perceptions of the world without their knowledge.

As I wrote on Monday:

I feel like we’re being played, as if puppet-masters are controlling the situation…mass shootings themselves seem to be a form of mind control over the entire nation. People end up supporting the Establishment they claim to despise.Mind control over the people means control over the people.

It doesn’t really matter what side you take on guns; the point is to make you angry at the other side and vote accordingly. As one gets angry, Agent Smith takes over the mind and independent thought ceases.

This time around, Democrats escalated from their previous complaint about the availability of guns. As usual, they also demanded “common-sense” gun laws because, you know, creating black markets makes all the “sense” in the world. But now they added “white supremacy is to blame” and “Trump is to blame” even though apparently right-wing political motivations account for just a fraction of…
