Commentary on a Course in Miracles: Lesson 12
A different path.
Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.
I am upset because I see a meaningless world. (ACIM, W-12)
A meaningless world is upsetting because there’s no reason to act. Even if the world is evil, that’s meaningful. You can, after all, play some small part to bring justice to an unjust world, beautify an ugly world, and heal a sick world. You can make the world a better place.
The idea that there is no good or bad, or good vs. evil, is upsetting. We want to enjoy the good, and learn “lessons” from bad experiences. We want to find meaning in the injustices or trama we experienced because that’s how we think we can heal.
This course seems to be pointing to a different path, and this lesson is the first that mentions God: “Beneath your words is written the Word of God. The truth upsets you now, but when your words have been erased, you will see His”
