Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.

I am sustained by the Love of God. (ACIM, W-50)

I’m reminded of something the Rev. Gaylon McDowell said. I don’t recall exactly what he said, but the message I received is that to love someone is to desire that they have joy, peace, health, and prosperity.

Or, more simply, it is to desire that they are happy, and I, like Robert Ringer, think of happiness as simply “feelin’ good.”

What is the love of God for me, but the desire that I feel good? What is self-love, but the desire that I feel good?

Maybe the Course has a broader and more transcendent definition of love than a desire for happiness, but I don’t see how it could have a definition that negates it. I don’t see how the Course wants us to suffer. We’re being steered away from suffering.

I am sustained by the knowledge that God wants me feelin’ good.
