Go with the flow.

Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.

Lesson 168

Your grace is given me. I claim it now. (ACIM, W-168)

For some reason, today’s lesson had me thinking about water. Water is literally in our blood. We need more of it to survive. All life needs it. The land needs it. Most of the surface of the planet is covered by it.

Water is us. In a Star Trek: Next Generation episode, humans are described as “bags of mostly water.”

I sometimes think of God the same way. Water has no “will” for me. I can’t sin against water. But its presence is most of what I am. I can drink a beverage of water mixed with something toxic, but it’s not the water that would make me ill.

Grace is “going with the flow.” Water flows. God flows.

I might as well go with the flow.
