Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.

I am the light of the world. (ACIM, W-61)

This sounds familiar to those with knowledge of Christianity. Jesus is quoted as saying:

14 “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

In light there is no darkness. Fear, stress, irritation, embarrassment, sadness cannot radiate from light. The light radiates kindness, joy, and peace.

“I am the light of the world” is therefore a healthy mantra, for it eradicates the illusions you might still hold, and it uplifts others.
