NFL Picks, Week 4
Last week, my first week of making NFL picks, I was 8–8 in predicting the winner but just 4–12 against the point spread. I’m hoping that as more data becomes available, I’ll get better as the weeks go by.
There are some outlandish picks this week based on the data we have that would defy subjective opinion (that is, the “eyeball test”). I’m using my own data-based system instead of my guts or opinion.
I’m making my picks at CBS Sports using their point spreads.. I’ll report my results next week with my Week 5 picks.
Because I make my picks before looking at the point spreads, I’m always curious about how often my predictions are close to the published spreads. Games in bold are within the 1.5 points of the CBS spread. Games in bold italic are within 0.5 points of the CBS spread.
Dolphins-Bengals: Dolphins by 6
Commanders-Cowboys: Cowboys by 5
Vikings-Saints: Vikings by 3
Bears-Giants: Giants by 1
Seahawks-Lions: Lions by 4
Steelers-Jets: Steelers by 3
Titans-Colts: Colts by 2
