Our artificially intelligent selves
Lesson 43 of A Course in Miracles
Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.
God is my Source. I cannot see apart from Him. (ACIM, W-43)
So, our perceptions don’t really exist. I wonder if our perceptions are more akin to Artificial Intelligence (AI) than we want to believe. AI can beat us humans at chess. It can even catch nuance, idioms, turns of phrase, and humorous pop cultural references to beat us at games like Jeopardy. AI can traffic in information, or what humans call perception, but not knowledge.
Because of our emotions, we might think we are more conscious than AI. And we are, but we’re also almost as blind as AI if we’ve forgotten the source of that consciousness, which is God.
The Holy Spirit, then, reminds us of who we are and where we come from.
