Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.

Lesson 104

I seek what belongs to me in truth. (ACIM, W-104)

The main message today is that “joy and peace are my inheritance.” (ACIM, W-104.3:3)

Everything we want, every goal in the world, is what we think will make us happy (or happier), will make us feel good (or feel better).

Personally, I’ve viewed joy and peace as the two components of happiness. Peace is when a joyful person is relaxing, joy is when a peaceful person is celebrating.

Peace is happiness in rest

Joy is happiness expressed

Everything else: health, wealth, relationships (romantic and otherwise), and career (or life purpose, or personal self-expression) are but means to get to the feelings of joy and peace.

But joy and peace are eternal and always present. Nothing can attack or diminish them; they’re already yours. Things have to fall into place in order to have joy and peace, if you feel joy and peace right now then things will always work out because you’ll still be feeling joy and peace.

In other words, the way to have joy and peace is to have joy and peace.
