LESSON 94

I am as God created me. (ACIM, W-94)

We are to remind ourselves hourly:

²I am as God created me.

³I am His Son eternally. (ACIM, W-94.5:2–3)

I’ve long appreciated this quote from football coach Bill Parcells:

“You are what your record says you are.”

It was said in the context of a team’s won-loss record and league standings. The team is not its potential, the team is not its talent, the team is not a victim of injuries and bad officiating.

It might be said, if you are a football coach, “You are a losing coach” or “You are a winning coach” or “You are a championship-winning coach.”

The statement is fine in narrowly-defined, results-oriented, goal driven activities.

Too often, however, I might judge myself or others by my “record” in parts of life where no records are kept. “I must have x income by age y or I’m a failure.” “I must lose x amount of…
