You are the first-person shooter that God created.

But also so much more.

Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.

Lesson 162

I am as God created me. (ACIM, W-162)

(Before reading the lesson, I noticed that this is a familiar statement, appearing in at least one previous lesson, maybe two or three.)

I am whole and holy. There was never a time when I wasn’t, because what is created is perfect.

Jessa Reed has likened this world to a “first-person shooter” video game. These are games where you are seeing and moving through the eyes of a character, and seeing only what the character sees. (This is in contrast to video games where you see the entire field of play and you move your character/player remotely, such as Pac-Man).

In the first-person game, you might not know what you will discover, where you’ll find the resources you need to continue, and who and when some other character might “attack” you.

But the character you’re playing in the game isn’t who you are, and the strategies and tactics of your competitors in the game aren’t who they are.

The game has limits and parameters. So, it may seem, does the biological body that you, the reader, now inhabit.

But you were created by an infinite God. You are limitless. Seeing the world of the biological body as the only reality, and seeing the video game as the only reality, is the same mistake.
