You choose what you see
Love or suffering?
--
Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.
This is the beginning of a new review section centered around this theme:
Lesson 171
God is but Love, and therefore so am I.
1. (151) All things are echoes of the Voice for God. (ACIM, W-171.1:1)
This is about seeing love in everyone and everything. If your experience is unlovely, consider it from a different point of view. Not from your own eyes, but from God’s perspective. Your eyes give you limited information; the God within you is all-knowing and all-wise.
2. (152) The power of decision is my own. (ACIM, W-171.2:1)
Do you choose to suffer? Aren’t there things that happen that cause you pain that wasn’t your fault?
Well, God did not create the past. Your memories of even one second ago are the product of your imagination. So, at this moment, in whatever condition your body and material circumstances you’re in, how do you choose to feel?
Love, joy, and peace can be chosen at any time, but the only time that exists is the present moment.
