EXODUS 15 and 16

I’m reading Young’s Literal Translation (YLT) and the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV).

Exodus 15

The song gives credit to The LORD for drowning the Egyptians, who metaphorically represent enslavement to the material world. The Israelites didn’t do anything but follow the LORD, and the LORD pulled off miraculous things. This continues when the LORD provides them with sweet water where it had been better, then to 12 fountains of water.

Turning this inwardly, if you listen to and follow the LORD/God/Source/Higher Self within you, things work out in a seemingly miraculous way. You don’t have to do anything. You don’t have figure things out with your intellect, or force the issue. Just follow that inner guidance.

Exodus 16

The YLT has Jehovah saying “Lo, I am raining bread from the heavens” but the NRSV “I am going to rain bread from heaven for you.”

In everyday speech of the English language, “the heavens” are synonymous with the sky, but who has a firm grasp of what “heaven” is or…
