Your plan of salvation won’t work

Might as well please yourself

Welcome to Daily Miracles, a running commentary on the 365 lessons of A Course in Miracles, an influential spiritual text from the 1970s. I am James Leroy Wilson and I invite you to join me as I go through this material for the first time.

Lesson 71

Only God’s plan for salvation will work. (ACIM, W-71)

Changing other people won’t save you. And the “good intentions” or “works” in trying to change other people, or businesses, or institutions, or society, won’t save you either.

Other people aren’t the problem, and they are not your problem.

God is in you, and salvation comes from inside.

During the practice periods, I didn’t “hear” specific answers to these questions:

³What would You have me do?

⁴Where would You have me go?

⁵What would You have me say, and to whom? (ACIM, W-71.9:3–5)

What I did receive was, “Whatever pleases you at the moment.”

By “pleases,” I mean whatever feels good and feels right. Remembering that salvation is within me, and God is in me, salvation doesn’t come from figuring out how to please a fearful Lord in the sky, but in finding joy and peace within.
